Dillon is the county seat of Montana’s largest county, Beaverhead County, covering nearly 5,572 square miles. The area offers incredible wide-open spaces which lend themselves to stunning landscapes and endless recreational opportunities. In the area, you’ll find a number of Lewis and Clark historic sites as well as agricultural history. The area boasts two natural hot springs, a local ski hill, and the Big Hole National Historic Battlefield. The old Hotel Metlen is one of the most unique buildings in town and is said to be haunted. Outdoor recreational opportunities in the area include blue ribbon fly fishing, hunting, rockhounding (at Crystal Park), hiking and backpacking, as well as cross country and downhill skiing.
